I have dreamed of writing and illustrating a children's book for as long as I can remember. When I was eight-years old, I submitted an illustration of a cute, lovable bear to a magazine drawing contest. Although I didn't win, I received a lovely personalized rejection letter for my effort with encouragement to continue drawing. That letter was even better than the prize itself. I was hooked! Forty-six years later, at the tail end of my career in public health, my dreams came true when I published my first book, Kaleidoscope Hope. I would have never guessed that something so wonderful could come from a tragic pandemic. I guess, for me, creativity blossoms in isolation. The world does work in mysterious ways and certainly not in a linear fashion. I am hoping this book helps children and adults alike to never lose hope. Something wonderful is waiting for you just around the bend!
